<p>En raison du taux élevé de délinquance chez les utilisateurs des trottinettes en libre-service, l’administration de <a href="https://www.ledevoir.com/valerie-plante">Valérie Plante</a> a décidé de ne pas autoriser ces véhicules dans les rues de la ville en 2020.</p>

<p>C’est ce qu’a annoncé Éric Alan Caldwell, responsable de la mobilité au comité exécutif, mercredi matin. Le bilan du projet-pilote mené l’an dernier fait état d’un taux important de délinquance chez les utilisateurs de trottinettes. Ainsi, huit véhicules sur dix étaient garés au mauvais endroit, a constaté la Ville, qui a dressé le bilan du projet-pilote.</p>

<p>Les entreprises de trottinettes et de vélos en libre-service sans ancrage ont enregistré 365 000 déplacements entre le 21 juin et le 15 novembre 2019, dont 61 % en trottinettes. Il a cependant été observé que seulement 20 % des trottinettes ont été stationnées dans les aires prévues à cet effet dans le règlement de la Ville.</p>

<p>Éric Alan Caldwell estime que l’expérience a été un échec et que les entreprises Lime et Bird n’ont pas été en mesure d’encadrer le service efficacement. De plus, 333 constats d’infraction ont été donnés par le Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) pour le non-respect du Code de la sécurité routière, dont 324 concernant le port du casque.</p>

<p>« Notre règlement n’a pas été respecté. Les opérateurs ne se sont pas assurés de le faire respecter. Donc, dans ces conditions, on doit tirer une conclusion : bien que cette micromobilité ait sa place dans une ville comme Montréal. […] Mais pour que ça fonctionne, ça ne doit pas nuire aux autres modes de mobilité durable et c’est ce qui est arrivé l’an passé », a dit M. Caldwell. « Avec un taux de délinquance de 80 % quant au respect de notre réglementation, il faut savoir en tirer un constat d’échec. C’est pour ça qu’en 2020, il n’y aura pas de trottinettes dans les rues de Montréal. »</p>
